Cool TGI Diving - El Gouna - Any opinions

Hi there everyone... looking to benefit from your experience.

I'm doing a trip with upto 35 people, going to Elgouna in May.

I've previously used other Dive Centres, but am looking into using TGI diving based out of the Sheraton... as that's the hotel we are using and they look and sound pretty good.

Does anyone on the forum have any experience of this dive operation and any opionions on the boats they have available... particularly taking into account the potential size of the group... upto 30 of them will be divers.

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

apologies if this is in the wrong forum... let me know

I did a couple of dives with them in El Gouna last year. Don't know what to say about them really, competent enough but didn't stand out like the guys at the Red Sea College in Sharm. This could be due to the amount of time I spent with each (2 days with TGI and 5 with RSC).

I did think the diving in El Gouna was much better than Sharm - better coral, more fish, sharks.

Thanks Bud,

Agree about El Gouna and Sharm...

We now one trip a year to each and definitely prefer the diving in El Gouna.

The best guys to ask about El Gouna are Simon TW and Georgina they both have places out there. Drop them a PM and they should be able to give you the information you need.

TGI I know them well. I know the manager and quite a number of the staff.

Valeario (the manager) has a pet boat Katrina it has three engines and will make the Thistlegorm in 90mins. The problem is that the boat is always broken down but it doesn't stop them advertising it. The other boat that they use is "Bongo" typical Egyptian day boat wood and limited to 20 divers.

Any dive centre will pick you up and deliver you back to your hotel so staying at the Sheriton isn't a problem. (nice hotel by the way, very spread out though)

If you have 30 divers going out every day you may want to book a bigger centre. The Dive tribe at the Movenpick are much bigger and very well organised, they are also british owned and managed. Georgina is in El gouna at the moment and she gets a special deal with them so try sending her a pm I will email her and tell her to post on here.

I like to dive with Sini Divers I know that they could sort it but they arn't in Elgouna but 5 mins outside. They also will pickup and deliver. I get a really good deal out of them and can sort you exclusive boats. It all depends what your looking for and the capabilities of your divers. I'm in the UK at the mo so if you send me a pm with your number I will phone you. I think that that could be easier.

Whatever, you will enjoy it.

Simon,

Thanks Bud... yup been to El Gouna a number of times before and always used Dive Tribe... We used to stay at the Rhianna.

Interesting that you rate DT above TGI for large groups.... might well reconsider and go with what we know.

I'll PM Georgina and she what she can do.

Again, the feedback is really appreciated.

Diving in El Gouna

Hiyya
I'm in El Gouna at the moment. I haven't dived with TGI only the Dive Tribe who I have a contract with.

Let me know if you have any questions for either as Valerio from TGI lives next door to me.

Georgina,

Thanks for the offer...

I've dived with DiveTribe three times before and been more than happy... suspect I'm going to stick with what I need.

However, if you do get the opportunity it would be good if you could ask Valerio if he could accommodate the number of divers mentioned (i.e. Up to 30) on a single boat and if so whether he has any pictures he could email to me? Both inside and out.

Thanks Again,

Mark

Just a thought, The Dive Tribe have a boat "king" it has 3 decks and is bigger than your average (its an Livaboard). Most day boats will only take 20 divers so enquire about that one. I also know the Captain and Crew as they used to be with Sini. Top guy's.

Good suggestion... not seen the boat "King"... I'll touch base with DT.

I'll touch base with... err... "Rob" (I think) from DiveTribe and see if it's an option.

Thanks
