Best quality liveaboard in the red sea

I would welcome some advice on the best quality liveaboard in the Red Sea. My other half, although an an experienced diver, likes the good things in life and accordingly the quality of the boat is more important to me than the route.

Hi Mark...

I have done a few livaboards in Egypt (but not on that many different boats) and I think that the best I have been on is the Hurricane. She only does southern/brothers Iteneries and they can be viewd at the Tony Backhurst Website - www.scuba.co.uk

There are others on here that have used the Hurricane and other boats, so I'm sure they will be along to add comments!

Hope this helps...
Neil

Another vote for Hurricane, although as my only liveaboard, I have nothing to compare it to.

I also liked Hurricane, but sometimes a boats reputation has more to do with the quality of the dive guides, don't go for the fact it has a jacuzzi no one on our trip used it and in my opinion over the top as an extra. Sonia and Grant who are currently on Hurricane have an excellent reputation, having moved from Excel (I think). I have also read that they are going to the Solomens (can't spell) but don't know if this is fact.

I was also on Royal Emporer last year and this was also a great trip but again more to do with the guides. Royal Emporer is going for a refit and will be doing the Sudan itinerary from September.

I have to say I would be prepared to book any boat with Tony Backhurst at www.scuba.co.uk as I think he does have an excellent operation.

Also been on some older boats but the newer ones have all the luxuries you want from a Redsea liveaboard.

Twin beds not bunks, unless you book the double that is. Nitrox a must for me, twin screws (also a must).

Another vote for Hurricane.
Reasons:
Great guides & choice of dives
1st class food
kitting up area spacious and the nitrox mixes spot on every dive
Attentive pick-up boat crew ( very important in offshore dive locations )
Comfortable saloon and separate dining area.
Nice cool ( as in temp ) cabins

all in all a very good & safely run boat.

Been going to RS on and off since '89 and H is by far the best so far.
cheers,
Dave

Grant and Sonia are Hurricane leaving next month. Not sure where they are going but the new guides are excellent.
