Question advice on diving charters.

Hello all, those of the wise and knowledgable diving oracle that is Yorkshire divers:

I am in a position where I can take leave anytime I want, and am thinking of taking a little day trip here and there with various charter people around the coast of this fair isle. One of the locations of interest to me is the dives offered by Wittering Divers. They seem to be good for my level of experience as I want to build up my experience of sea dives slowly, instead of going down to the abyss on dive 27!!

Has anyone dived with them before, and if so, what are they like?

Any other suggestions for a new diver to get his kit wet will be warmly accepted. I am not looking to drive too far the moment, so anywhere with a couple of hours drive from Essex will be good.

Wittering Divers are a good bunch. I did my first UK diving with them and they always treated me well. They have two ribs operating out of Bracklesham Beach, so you will need to wade into the sea and clamber on board. They do a whole range of dive sites - just phone them up and ask them for advice. Their online charter diary seems to be pretty accurate. A couple of good intro dives that they do are the Mulberries and the T-Pot. The Fossil drift in the bay can be fun if you find some fossilised teeth. They also hire out equipment, such as the cylinders, and can also fix you up with a buddy if required.

Cheers, Ant

Dont know about wether he would be able to buddy you up with anyone but it might be worth asking, if not PM me and will see what I can fit in to buddy up with you.

cheers peeps.....I will be making some calls and doing some arranging in the next few weeks.......and then the diving shall begin.

I had read nothing but good things about the Wittering guys, and their dives looked great for me to get some experience.

Give us a shout too

Never had a problem with single divers booking on and getting buddied up. as said Wittering and I cover the same area, with slight differences in pricing on some trips its worth cheching both out.

PS the car park at Selsey is free
Eclipse has ladders that you can actually use
and a kitting up bench
and tea and coffee

etc
etc

Skipper, I will be calling you for some "new to diving wanna get wet" advice in the next few days.....I figure that Wittering is going to be a nice little place to do some diving as everything there seems geared to little novice me.....and like they say, small steps get you where you are going.

Unfortunatley I can't confirm when I will call,(as I spend all week tied to the desk) but you mentioned a ladder, and a bench on your post, and that pretty much convinced me!! Once I have called I will have an idea of what dates I want to do, and then plans can be made.

Gosh.....all this diving malarkey is very exciting isn't it!!

If you wan't to do a Friday thing with Dave (Eclipse) say the T-pot followed by the Mulberry I may be able to get a few divers. I've just started on the twin set route so I want to stay shallow ish for a while. Not sure how many divers Dave will need to make it worth his while but i sure a few from here would join in

Sean
