My golf partner told me on sunday that his haulage company employing over 50men and traiding for over 30 years is shutting down because of the increase in fuel cost. It totaly wiped out their o.5 to 1.0% profit margin they have to run to compeet with the foregn lorries that pay no road tax or licence fee and fill up their 2000 ltr tanks before driving for a week in the UK.

Nice one Gordon you twat.

Petrol 36p ltr under New Labor when they got in. 96p now. Actual cost of a ltr 32p the rest is tax.

I know you skippers cant say how long is a bit of string but say the prices increas steady over the next year. Could we see prices go up to say £60 -£70 for a charter? and would you lower prices again if the prices went lower?

The reason i ask is with rising prices of just about everything this year but my wages i think that I wont be doing no where near as much diving next year. Unless its under the pier at swanage

we,ll have to wait and see jamie.
i'm thinking of changing both engines in the boats we have to single cylinder listers ,take forever to get anywhere but cheap as chips to run.
speaking of chips thats given me an idea could run our boats on modified macdonalds chip oil it was on top gear .
imagine chugging out to the dive site with the fresh aroma of burning chip fat spewing out the back lovely!
that would have a few faces green in no time

Hope the prices come down and everything works out for you skippers.

Get oil fired central heating that runs on diesel and carries none of the tax.

If I had a big enough chunk of land i would do it but I dont realy have anywhere for the tank

Fuel prices

Charter prices may have to rise £60 - £70 for the longer trips next year.
For example a trip to the Moldavie which is 25 miles each way is now costing an extra £39 in fuel.
Then there will be increases in mooring fees of 15% & harbour dues to add in.
I'm glad I haven't a new boat on order !

Ivan.

the answer to that is a steady yes ...
we have up here at the top of the world had a 40% increase in fuel costs within the last 6 months
i dont need to point out the result of not putting up our prices will be a good number of the marginal boats ... like myself ... going out of business.

expect price rises of 8-10% for 2006 season

Monday morning Fuel here was .46 ppl
Monday afternoon Fuel here was .48 ppl

so, by filling up when i did saved me £ 10.40

520 @ .46 = £ 239.20

520 @ .48 = £ 249.60

If if the price of .48 p stays the same until christmas, and i fill up 4 times a month.... thats a big chunk extra i have to do without .........

Is Paul replacing her?
What's Paul doing now?
Who bought her?
Will she still be a dive boat?

I have to say i've just had three days diving on Voyager with Paul which was superb, unfortunatly today was blown out - but the call wan't made until we had set off and were 4 or so miles out - Paul called it and we all had our trip refunded. I think I have been well tretaed and wouldn't hesitate to use her again, - I respect a good call - especially when the skippers the one to lose.#
