Info on a week in Normandy liveaboard

    Hi,
I have been asked to get as much information as I can, with regard to a week away next summer in Normandy. The club are planning, for a week away and they would prefer a liveaboard, which sails from the southeast....

Reccomendations prefered, but all info greatfully recieved.

    thanks very much,
    regards,
    Andrew

I'm trying to arrange a similar trip with my club , but looking at going early May, the viz is supposed to be better.

The Maureen of Dart does trips to Normandy also the loyal Watcher, I have seen fairly good reports about both.

    Cheers

I, as have a number of others, did a Normandy trip with Steve, Nauticat, Brighton. I went on a Mon to Friday and, although not a liveaboard we stayed in a cheapish hotel in Fe Camp.

A bloody good weeks diving was had.

The only downside is that I know Steve gets booked up on these trips quickly (as, no doubt, do the others).

I don't know about the liveaboard option .... it was nice to get back to a hot bath and a bar - not always in that order.

I used Maureen of Dart on a trip to the Scillies in July.

I would not hesitate to use them again.

Depends if you like a bit of the motion of the ocean or not... Maureen is a v. rolly boat which bobs and weaves in the slightest sea. Watcher on the other hand is a v. stable dive platform. I've done liveaboards on both and know which one I'd book again...

Not sure if White Horse is still running out that way - never used it myself but I'm sure you won't have any probs finding reports from those that have

    Normandy

We've arranged a similar trip for our club next year on Loyal Watcher and I know when we booked a month or so ago there were very few weeks left, so there are probably none by now. I'm really looking forward to it though, so good luck with finding something.

THanks for all your replies....I watched an episode of Sea Hunters today on the Normandy beaches...They were only doing one dive a day because of the tides...how did you guys find it. Thanks Andrew

Myself and nickb were in Normandy earlier this year with our club. We stayed in Courseulles-sur-Mer and dived off the Girl Gray. We did 2 dives a day within 4 or 5 miles of the coast but we had long surface intervals, nearly 10 hours in some cases. Because of the tidal range, most costal marinas restrict access to an hour either side of high tide so we were at sea for the best part of 12 hours a day Not too much of a problem since the weather was fantastic but might not be fun if it got too choppy!

    Cheers/Nic

Two a day for us. I'm not sure if we were diving on high and low slacks or there are some strange tidal flows rounf there.
