Thats a good idea, but then skippers can do that aswell just by having a book onboard ( which needs to be signed ) stating that the diver is fit and able to do the dive.

Not just abroad,,,,,,,, it's only puddle divers as well.......

I had a corker during the summer, a diver with over 750 dives and only 4 in the sea and they were shore dives. He was taking a diver in for sports diver training on a good wreck here at 24 mts and he had problems half way down the shot and aborted the dive........ and it was the water movement that he didn't like

Surely that diver was completely missing the point of diving unless they were:
1. A commercial diver doing fingertip searches of canal bottoms
2. Part of the CDG group
3. Allergic to salt

Taking all the above responses into account why is it that when you go on a Liveaboard in say, Egypt they want to see your qualification and log book? If the 'Taxi' law applies in UK what about in other parts of the world?

It doesn't.

Given time Uncle Tony will probably require us to have our diving qualifications entered on our voluntary ID card and poor old Hazel will have to voluntarily retinally scan the punters as they go off the back of the boat. Of course if you turn up at a chamber and the computer says you weren't diving this weekend you don't get treated. The fact that the Coastguard heli dropped you on the hospital back lot proves nothing.

I know they have to make sure they dont take muppets on a trip but I do find it a bit of a chore having to prove to a divemater that I can clear my mask and buddy breath when I turn up with my YBOD. More often than not they don't have a clue how it works!
