| Rib from poole-Swanage Market Research Hi all. Just a bit of market research. Would you charter a RiB operating from Poole/Swanage? Dives a bit like Club RIB dives (but without the hassel) i.e Kyarra, tanks, nature trail, betsy ann e.t.c Cheers Brian

| I wouldn't, in general. Not a fan of RIB diving when for the same, or close on the same, cost I can have a comfy hardboat with a ladder! However enough people seem to do it allover the country (which does strike me as odd

I'm not really sure if there is a market for this. There are so many charter boats running out of Poole and even long established clubs are sometimes finding it hard to fill the boats. Several local skippers had empty boats over the recent holiday weekends, and several I know have no bookings at all for this coming BH weekend. I realise that these are hard boats, but at least you can keep warm & dry, kit up on site, carry enough gear for two dives and relax between dives. I would and do go out on RHIBS, but wouldpick a hardboat every time. If you were offering trips at say £10 a dive I would be interested, but generally speaking hard boat every time for me. Sorry

| Hi Brian, John Sturch already runs a RIB from Poole. It also benefits from a small wheelhouse for shelter/changing. The boat is also jet-drive so no nasty props. Have a look @ http://poolecharterboats.com/boats/big_dinghy/ As others have said, local Clubs ( with RIBS ) struggle to get numbers even though the costs are very low. Speed is also not that important, as it is an excuse for a another cup of Tea. The thing with RIBS, you have to change before getting on board & remain suited for an extended time. This is especially a problem with evening dives, as often people come straight from work and need to change out of office clothes. Easy on a Hardboat, not so good in a dusty/muddy carpark. all the best, Dave ![]() |
