Great boat and skipper. Super blogger - cept it seems to have disappeared lately
Was in the pub with him a few weeks ago, he pointed out all his web access was through GPRS and his bill for the previous month was ~£250, can't blaiming him calming down on the blogging. Rogues gallery on his site is great (see if you can find me!). Bob's a good laugh too!

Excellent skipper, dropped us on the wrecks with no complaints. A diver so he knows the wrecks, what us divers want, and where to put us. Living on the boat is great, esp when you can go to the drying room after a dive, strip off dry suit, and be in your bunk for a kip within 10 minutes after a dive (and all your gear is about for fixes/changes).

Must say though it's my only experience of scapa diving.

Lloyd

I would hesitate to recommend any boat or Skipper over another as it is very much down to what kind of holiday you are after and what sort of skipper you like ..... of course there are a few I would not recommend at all.....but thats another story

I've been with both Bob (Halton) and John (Karin) and had great time with both.

Hazel runs a dive boat in Scapa. Currently has a dayboat and will soon take charge or a liveaboard.

She is a diver herself, knows lots about the wrecks, knows what divers want and is too modest to speak up on her own behalf so, I am doing it for her.

Sure she will give you advise about the different dive boats out at Scapa, but do include her in your shortlist of boats. Lots of YD members have spent time at Scapa diving off Hazel's boat and really enjoyed themselves.

Nicely put ardhill - have dived twice off Hazels boat and am already booked on for a third - couldnt fault them either time and dfeinately recommend.
Have also dived shetland off Bob's boat Halton which i would also highly recommend. I too am in the rogues gallery, complete with camera and bright yellow jacket.....

MV Invincible (Skipper, Ian Trumpess) is the largest of the Orkney dive boat fleet (25.5m length). Was on in early July. Good, knowledgeable and sensible skipper assisted by his wife, Fiona. Good accommodation particularly if you can get to the forward cabin first (hot tip), great breakfasts; we were well looked after.

I'm sure there are other good boats but this is the only one I have experienced.

Scapa recomendations

In my experience, a lot of the choice is actually dictated by availability so I think we all get a call at some time.

For a simple list of operators in Scapa you can try the ODBOA website

ODBOA Membership

The best indicator of an operator is their first responce to an enquiry. The rest of their operation will follow suit, in my experience.
