South Coast dive boats

I starting to take on responsibility for booking dive boats for my club and I thought I'd open this up for recommendations from YD members since I'd like to introduce some new boats rather than just using the same old ones again.

I'd love to hear your suggestions for boats and skippers for the south coast - we're based in Surrey so normally head down to Brighton, Littlehampton, Eastbourne etc with the odd weekend to Weymouth. Or is there anyone to stay clear of?!

Any thoughts?!

Or any tips to consider when planning a season's diving?

Cheers! Pete

Brighton - Steve Johnson on Channel Diver 2
Weymouth - Smudge on Scimitar / Cutlass

Are the ones I've used and been very happy with them both.

He means these are good to dive with and not ones to avoid.

I've got that impression already from trying to find last minute places - I plan to start early for next year!

We use Steve quite a bit - always been very happy with him and his boat. If Smudge is anything like him then that's a good tip - cheers!

I can recommend Wight Spirit for wrecks near the IOW - skipper is v knowlegable about wrecks in the area having discovered a few and written a book about them!
Prob booked up this summer at weekends but i know Dave is looking to do some mid week trips.

Introduction - Son of Crust - The divers choice!

Also tango of weymouth was a really enjoyable weekend - also v good skipper highly recommended.

TANGO of Weymouth

Dave Batchelor of Neptune will always give you top quality service:- Neptune - Skipper: Dave Batchelor - Port: Dover

This may make dive planning easier:- 30 Fathoms/Boat Space - the boat space site

May also help with finding spaces.

For Portland there is always Reg with Tideflow. The boat is a bit basic and he just does the harbor and close in but he's a good bloke (and occasionally plays Jethro tapes ).
