"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

Time to dive.

Thumbs up

As long as the conspiracy theorists keep their 'X-Files' type braying at bay

I'll leave it here for a few hours longer just so folks are completely happy they know WHY it's being binned.

Agent Mulder suggests that even though it was started by a twat, there might be some useful information buried within it. Look at the contributions from Adrian, Skipper, Snash, Elfyn, Bruce etc. Also that some people felt passionately enough about the issues to spend time addressing them in the first place, and that effort might be worth respecting. As Simon TW said, "M&C has got a topic started when he was just trying to pi** folk off".

Why not just lock it rather than deleting it? That way it won't keep popping up but whatever may be valuable about it would be preserved in the archives, for anyone interested in those issues (e.g. real cost of running a club boat; side-scan sonar or whatever) to search for.

And let's face it - there's much "worse" (subjective opinion obviously) material out there on YD - should we delete it all?

I'd agree with that. Think that there are some fairly compelling rebuttals in here, and it'd be a shame to lose them. If it's locked it won't keep scuttling back up to the top of the list, but the info is still retained for reference.

Wink The People have Spoken!

Just so everyone is happy: the above two posts were me posing as both Helen and Tom whilst editing posts by Jules, Mdemon and Daz - and then making up fictictious polls about fly-fishing in Guam.

And I'm pregnant with twins....
