On Doctor's advice...

After a couple of dives last weekend I woke up yesterday with a fever. It gradually worsened throughout the day. Rather than going to the local clinic during the day I went at 23h00 where for €2.75 I went on the night service with little queing.

I mentioned that I went Diving and the doctor said this was the likely cause for the fever/fly.

I remarked that was 'B*ll*cks', since when does a fish transmit a virus to you, I didn't see the cuttlefish sneezing (have a funny image on one doing so though). It must have been the humans at the supermarket who all seem to be infested with festreing germs.

Nope in the contrary, diving is good for you, fresh air, fresh water and good exercise.

Doctor thought I was totally bonkers, but at least you YD'ers will understand!

(Much better now, still hope to dive next weekend)

have you not considered that the water might be dirty?

Yea, I always breath lots of dirty water when I dive! Unless they are a diving doctor they are usualy very ill informed and rely on general misconseptions rather than actual fact.

So your ears are watertight, and there's never a bit of water sloshing around in your mask, and of course you NEVER touch your face with your wet hands after diving................

This was a lighted hearted posting. Maybe I did get it from the dive but if anyone has been to 'El Corte Ingles' during rabajas (That is like Selfridges during sales) you get a curious form of human nature and also not the healthiest type either. The store was packed and you could see people coughing without covering their mouths.

My point is that yes, diving in the cold at this time of year brings risks, but personally I reckon you much more likely to get some bug by going to a packed store full of festering humans.
