Imported post Interesting, prompted by the payment of the deposit fpr a liveaboard going out to the brothers :- So last liveaboard. off I go, no symptoms what so ever, even slept through a few chppy seas. Spent the week diving, drinking, leaping off the boat with a devil may care attitude. Left te boat after a week, flight home, no problem for the first day or 2. Woke up on the third day went to walk downstairs. .... Wow... Weird.. expecting the stairs to come up and meet my feet.... Strangest feeling ever, took about 2 days to wear off.... Now I know what they mean by sea legs.... Daz

Imported post My old instructor swore by a greasy fry up before a boat/rib dive. Me - I use `sea legs` and they work great

Imported post Can't agree more..... Can't beat a greasy fryup. But it is not the sealegs I have a problem with, it is the the landlegs afterwards. Probably my own fault caused by lack of falling down juice. Daz

Imported post If you think you are going to be sick eat chocolate and crisps. It doesn`t stop you being sick but at least it tastes nice on the way out. Fraid I`m a bit of a chocaholic. Found this out by accident.

Imported post Bren - Cinnarizine is an anti-emmetic (anti-puke) agent BUT don't give it to kids or people with high blood pressure. Otherwise really good call. I might try it meself for really wobbly rides.

Imported post Yeah - I had that same "land-legs" sensation after my liveaboard in Thailand a year or so ago. Felt giddy and a little sick for quite a few hours straight after landing in Phuket. I hadn't expected it, living in Guernsey & all and going on boats fairly often, although only then did it occur to me that five days was the longest I had ever spent on a boat without getting off (other than to go diving of course!). The feelings of nausea were mixed with, and compounded by, a little dread as we realised that the USS Kittyhawk was docked (it may be a "small" US carrier, but you should see it close up - it can hardly be missed!) and about 3,000 US Sailors were ashore for the weekend raising merry ####!! I'll wager that the local working girls had their work cut out that weekend. Reminds me of a story that one of the bar owners told me about the Kittyhawk and its crew on a previous year's shore leave (its been going there for years apparently). Over the course of the weekend, the thousands of sailors had been using the local "services" to the fullest extent possible and paying for them with ฮ bills. It seems that some cunning, devious crewmember(s) had spent a lot of time and effort forging these notes for the sole purpose of deceiving the working girl population of Phuket (I'm sure it must have been tried elsewhere!). The woman told me that there were queues of expectant (hopefully not expecting) girls at the banks on the Monday trying to cash non-existant currency. Poor lasses. Alas the Kittyhawk had sailed ....

Imported post I am wondering if anyone can help. A colleague of mine is off to Sharm in a couple of weeks time but, he suffers from terrible sea sickness. When he went last year, he only managed two boat dives. Does anyone know of any non-drowsy sea sickness tablets that he could try - I think most of them make you drowsy, not so good when diving!! Many thanks Sam
