My first question. Age. Hi, I said hallo this morning after finding your site, and very good it looks too I am starting my bsac training next week and have done some preliminary reading, both here, a friend's padi books and other stuff. Something has cropped up in my reading so here goes..... I would like to ask about "age". I am 47, slim, don't smoke, go running about three times a week, race motorbikes, am definitely not super-fit but not a couch potato if you see what I mean. I have seen reference to divers aged over 40 or 45 ish, and wondered what the issues are with age please. I have a full fitness assessment at my new gym next week... is there anything I should specifically be asking for? Cheers

Hello Sorry I didn't say Hi in the introductions, first if your doing your BSAC training don't read the PADI books, you will get very confused Second, I don't think you have anything to worry about fitness wise Last edited by Fiona : 11-03-05 at 02:38 PM. Reason: Just read the intro

Hi, I'm 57 and have been diving for 40 years. My wife also dives and she has serious back problems but we have developed techniques to overcome this. We dive with a group in our club, only one of whom is under 50 (my elder son!) and the eldest of whom is 68. We are all non-smokers and none of us is seriously overweight. However, I certainly wouldn't describe any of us as super-fit. Hope you enjoy your training - but be warned, it can be seriously addictive and can cause severe damage to your wallet!

no I'm not single Fiona (as you asked before you deleted it...) and I am female. As I guess you are??? Thanks for replies feeling more confident now...
