How to use little air

I went diving on the Florida Keys a few years ago. My buddy, that I met on the way to the dive boat was a Canadian loopie. As we were both experienced divers we were the first over the side and the last back.

Thinking something really nasty is nearby does shallow your breathing.

Sorry there is no easy way of using less air other than more diving.

So when would you hold your breath underwater if you're using tanks - stuck in a horizotal tube?

I have an opinion on this, but I've been out for a few jars tonight, so I must resist......do...not...type...when...pissed. Actually, that's worked, the urge has gone. I'll tell you my thoughts tomorrow, but then again they may not seem so relevent tomorrow.
The curse of YD, the drunken post.

Only works of course when you're warm, holding depth and initially at least when you're thinking about it.

Seems to work still as age and lack of ;cough: Olympian fitness disappears.
There is an article on Scuba Diving.com called '7 secrets to better diving'. Rules 2 & 3 address the issue of air usage. In particular rule 3 has helpful comments about breathing patterns. Here is the link:

http://www.scubadiving.com/training/...better_diving/

I've found it really helpful (as a new diver), provided that I'm not so task overloaded that I forget!!

Happy Diving!
