| Ahh Crap Sorry to hear that Geoff.. Terrifying isn't it. On the upside the stress test is very good at spotting the problems and the Blood tests can identify Heart attacks etc. Oh and its not necessarily Endex.. I know at least 1 diver who still dives after 2 heart attacks.. eh Nigel!.. Good luck I am rooting for you.

| There is a saying: A creaking gate never falls. John Neuschwander (editor of Duiken in Holland) was one of the fitest men I knew. He also had a medical career before he took up diving so he was very aware of body functions. He was full of life and never worried about a thing. A couple of weeks ago he died unexpectedly of a brain haemmorage (sp). My father was always very overweight and never took any exercise. He was diagnosed as next to dead when he was 70 but lasted until he was 88. Stop worrying. You are going to die but so will all of us.

| I had a similar problem about 10 years ago. Had just driven round the M25, late for a meeting. Severe pain in my right arm, chest felt as though it had a steel band around it, difficult to get my my breath, sweating. The Occupational Health nurse had me whisked off to hospital for a whole batch of tests. It turned out to be due to a trapped nerve - what a relief. However, due to a family history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I'm on calcium channel blockers, aspirin and statins. Two years of an ultra low fat diet failed to reduce my cholesterol below danger levels. Curious thing is that although this problem runs in my mother's family, there doesn't seem to be any history of heart disease. My mum is one of 6 siblings, 5 still alive and the youngest is 72. The eldest died two yaers ago in a car crash aged 82. |

| Just spent all morning at the hospital doing various tests and the conclusion is that whatever caused my chest pains/hospitalisation, it was not a problem with my heart. Just putting it down to a "Non specific episode". Thanks to all that sent good wishes. Geoff

| Geoff a result indeed, I suggest that you now put yourself in your wife's shoes i.e. go out and buy yourself something as a celebration gift as to how well you have looked after yourself all these years. Maybe an RB??? Matt |

| Good news. I'm glad to say I've never had a repeat of my little incident and I hope the same is true for you. |
