sorry to hear it mate.
Was it that contaminated water around the
North Wales coast that caused the problem?
Cheers
Bob

<font color='#000080'>dunno, Bob,
Sea-water's full of creatures everywhere.....the stuff in the empty cognac bottles really mings......... and I was amongst that last dive.
It's a real b*stard this time of year. (I've got 2nd breadsnapper due end July begin Aug) What a bad do!
Latest SP is been to docs again today - Dble-strength Antis with extra something and pain-killers, go back tomorrow and ENT Hosp. if gets any worse tonight    if not check-up at GPs on Wednesday. Feels better than this morning - at least I can move jaw now
Bugger is I don't know when I did it exactly. Funny thing about it is I did the 5-day stint OC as a sensor suddenly dropped dead on me on  the friday and it's brought to mind that I used to get loads of ear-clearing grief in my OC days but don't remember any at in 2 1/2 years on YBOD..strange?

Hopefully I'll be back in soonish,
ATB,
       Terry

<font color='#333399'>Hey Terry
That sounds as if you have something serious there mate.
Hope it clears up soon and you can get back into the water.
Never used an RB but seems strange that it only happened when you went back to using OC.
Fraid I don’t know enough about the medical side of things to be able to pass an opinion.

Hope to be back on the “H” either weekend or early next week.
That’s if this weather holds out. Got a bit of an ear my self from the last time I dived but nothing on your scale.
Just an irritant in my right ear. Shouldn’t stop me from diving though.
Hope your back on them wrecks before the end of next month. Get a few dives in before the big day.
Cheers
Bob

Look guys

Otitis externa (which is what this sounds like) can be really manky - I've seen grown ups crying in pain. &nbsp; If it is otitis externa, then the ear needs a good clean out by your local ENT dept and you need eardrops. &nbsp; The ear canal can almost close up in severe cases and these need a wick inserting. &nbsp; The most important thing though is to do your best to keep the ear dry until it clears up. &nbsp; You are not doing yourself any favours by trying to tough things out.
Good luck

Fee

<font color='#000080'>Cheers, Bob.
Fee, yes  I copped for the otitis externa and painful is an understatement. Almost closed completely, whole side of head swelled with a doughnut-ear fit to burst out the middle of it. Don't like to &quot;do&quot; the GP bit but simply HAD to go back.
The mega antibiotics and anti-biotic ear-spray he gave me seemed to kick in fairly quick and after 8 hours of looking like &quot;Elephant -man&quot; the swelling started to reduce. The painkillers were spot-on.....man....
I had instructions to go back today if it got worse- luckily it didn't so have to go tomorrow for check-up and hopefully I'm on the mend.
I think I must have torn my eardrum in the battle to clear without realising and then done more diving until infection kicked in
As for having more trouble OC than CCR .. maybe the extra volume of counter-lungs and addition of diluent on descent has a cushioning effect on the equalising process, again
I should have got a photo of the offending ear to post as a warning to any ear-forcers on the forum but it didn't enter my head at the time (a razor-blade would have felt nice, though! )
ATB,
   Terry

<font color='#000080'>I'm on my second ear infection in five weeks (never having had one before) and both after dives around Anglesey.
Is there something particularly wrong with the water there? If so, there's going to be a hell of a lot of YD's on the antibiotics this week!

I caught this one nice and early and was down to the GP straight away - I learned from the first one when I was in a world of pain! Does anyone have any suggestions for prevention?
