| Imported post Aye up I don't post on here often, but just thought I'd add my input to this. I started to smoke 21 years ago when I was in the army in a VERY stressful and life threatening situation and needed to stay awake for long periods of time. I stopped smoking 2 years ago now and feel really great. No more sh1t coming off my chest each morning. No more smelly clothes and hair. No more running out of breath each and every time I have to push my body a little more than normal. It's one of the hardest things I had to do, with regards to willpower, but believe me it's well worth it. Good luck to all of you who have stopped smoking. Youll love it in the long run. Sorry for droning. No more lectures. GOOD LUCK |

| Imported post Jobs to do this year include giving up. I'm onto it so I'll get there, (Is it October already !) Anyway, I tried Zyban a few years ago. At the risk of being sued, my side effects included not sleeping, well, for about 2-3 hours a day. Looking at people and not hearing their words and staring at the wall for periods of time, like 2 hours. The point being is that my personal experience of the stuff is that I wouldn't dive if taking it, and it took me about 3 weeks to come down off the stuff. Maybe it just me, I don't know, but PLEASE be aware it didn't work for me and diving. Best of luck Roy |

Peter PS-Seriously, good luck folks!!! It's a doddle! Everytime you think about a cigarette, just do something, anything, and you'll forget about it soon enough. Repeat this half a million times and you're laughing. |

| Imported post Ive got to say this is probably one of the hardest things ive had to do.. A 33mtr dive in zero vis, with a top swell of 3 or4 mtr swell would be a cake walk...( And loosing the boat) now if i could keep off the Demon drink, then i wouldnt keep busting and having to hit the reset button the next morning Steve

| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Hi guys, I smoked for over 25 yrs and tried to stop just as many times. As seems to be the general consensus, stopping smoking is one of the hardest things to do and does need will power. I found the first three days easier than the following three weeks add infinitum. Mind games, and devils on your shoulders, all pulling you back into the habit. My advise is take note of the word HABIT. I have now stopped, nearly 10 yrs now and I discovered that I had to break the multitude of habitual moments when we all crave for a fag. ie; after a meal, in the pub (sooo hard) at the lights on way to work, etc. I found by recognising those moments and then forcing myself to have a fag later, say at the next set of lights, or after the next phone call, or next pint etc. play nasty with the mind games in your head be the devil and fight back. That's the will power, be shifty with your Psyche then when you actual stop smoking, it is a true revalation and you know it, you'll know that you've stopped for good. I wish you all good look in your effort and remember to stick at it, even if you slip back you can always pick up again, but fight the "habit and the Devils in your head" not the smoking. Then later on you can get treatment for the SCHIZOPHRENIA. |

| Imported post Ok - its been a month now and personally, I have had one cigarette in that time. How is everyone else doing? Please remember, there will be no recriminations as we are a support group and relapses are part of the process!
