It's 9 weeks since the op so we are going to give it another 6 months and try again.

1 bubble at rest and a lot after valsalva

I will be back in the water though shallow and rich mixes like before.

Ali
Oh, no, what devastating news. You must be gutted. As a comparison what size rivet did you have fitted? My cardiologist used a 25mm rivet on my 10mm hole as an extra precaution against failure.
Commiserations
Larry

Hi Larry,
They put in a 25mm device.
I thought I might fail as I am still getting headaches, not full blown migraine but similar. A nagging headache behind the eyes.
So lets see what 6 months brings. Hopefully it will be clear, but there is always the chance there could be another hole
Will worry about that on the 2nd Aug.

Capernwray is booked for Sunday.

I look forward to receiving the book Gloc.

Cheers,

Ali

Like wise Leigh,
It was good to get wet again even though I'm still holey.

I spoke to Dr Wilmshurst again today and when I go down on the 2 August my mother will be joining me As she is a long time Migraine sufferer PW would like to do a bubble study and see if she has a PFO.
My mother has insisted that she won't be taking up diving though!

Another Update

Been to Leeds today and had another Echo.
It looks like I have a small leak on the edge of my amplatzer, so all been well that will heal over with time.
I asked how easy the holes were to spot and Dr Gibbs said that they were easy to see if you know your way around a heart. He does a balloon sizing of the hole which plugs the hole and then looks for others.
So it looks like I just had the one
He also said that reports have just been released from Germany saying that amplatzers can still be healing after 2 years.

So now it's just a matter of waiting to see Dr Wilmshurst again on 2nd Aug (Judgement Day)

Ali

Judgement Day!

So 6 months later it's back to see Dr Wilmshurst, and this time my Mother was with me

The result of my bubble study was the same as last time, still shunting loads of bubbles after valsalva so it's back to Leeds to see if they can fit another amplatzer. Dr Wilmshurst said that it's normally about 50/50 that they can fit a second device!

My mother got the all clear though

So the saga continues.

Ali

I'm longing to go to Hodge Close again

Sorry to hear that Ali.

Let us know how you get on back at Leeds.

Do you have the references from Germany by any chance?

Mary

Hi Mary,
No references, I was just repeating what I was told at Leeds.
