Imported post Peter, I wish you all the best for the future and sincerely thank you for actually having the balls to post your experience. It has certainly been a wakeup call for me and I can assure you I will not be as dismissive of symptoms in myself as I would have been if I had not read your story. I hope you reach the right decision with your diving, it can't be an easy decision to make Thanks again and keep well, Darren

Imported post 'kin #### Pete ... you are a lucky boy. Thank God you're fine and you're gonna make a full recovery. When you're feeling a wee bit better I'll take you out for a few beers and you can recount the sorry tale again. Take it easy mate.

Imported post I've just read the editted version - Bloody #### Pete. Being wise afer the event is pretty #### easy, thanks for taking the time to post, it couldnt have been easy. I sincerely hope you get to a full recovery and dive again if you want to, but rest assured that nobody has the right to make that decision for you or try to convince you one way or the other. Whichever way it is it will be a hard and brave decision. Keep posting and stay in touch as I've sort of got to like you along the way, thought you were an arsehole first off, you probably thought the same of me. I hope you dont mind I added a note to Handbag.net about your incident as I thought it incedibly brave of you. Take great care my friend. Matt ps if you are giving up what kit you flogging ;-) M (Edited by MATTBIN at 5:56 pm on Jan. 23, 2003)

Imported post The guys in the chamber have already claimed first shout on anything I'm selling. That was when I knew the "When can I dive again?" question I was not going to get the reply I wanted to here. As I said I think I probably will, but I'll really have to think about it. I suppose divers must be a special breed of people that even after something like there first question is "When can I dive again?" When I woke up in hospital and looked out the window on Wed, it was a lovely day. The first thought that went through my head was "Great day for a dive and the Catalina is only along the road". You're right. I did think you were an arsehole, always sticking up for that girlfriend of yours(Ms Bell). I suppose my sense of humour is hard to pin down sometimes, but everyone wants to have my babies eventually. I still stand by the Salem Express, but she'll be glad to know that isn't exactly on this years calender anymore. Only joking Lou, lets not go there again. As for wet-kippers@dawn.net, no problem, I just couldn't be bothered with some of the arsholey comments it would have recieved there. Peter Peter

Imported post Sorry Pete, I've just read your re-edited piece and the new rider/foot-note at the bottom of your posting. 'kin 'ell If you're gonna take some time out/off diving (or...gulp....give up completely!), I offer you my utmost respect sir. Good decision - the dive will always be there in future, we on the otherhand (as your incident might prove) might not!! I know Commercial divers have to take at least 4 weeks off when they get a hit, same with you, or are you gonna take the full year?? At least you're around to make the decision (result) and, as has been said above, it's not an easy one for any active diver to make. Once again, glad you're still with us to recount the tale. Stay safe mate,

Imported post By 'eck lad! Glad you are still with us. Hopefully you being good enough to share your experience will make us all reassess our diving and prevent things from going pear shaped in the future...... Brave man.

Imported post Peter Just a short note, the same as everyone else, to wish you well

Imported post Pete, you know what you did wrong, as do we. You had the strength to post what happenened, which is a #### sight more than other bent divers I've known. The most important things is that you're alright. Looking forward to meeting you on the Mull trip. I shall take the piss, but you won't have to buy any drinks when I'm around. Hope you're back in the water soon. Best Rob BTW you got a bend, but at least you were getting wet when I (and- let's face it - most of the people reading this) were sat on our arses moaning about the weather.

Imported post Hey Pete in another thread I asked what had happened to you and you directed me here... sorry mate I feel like such a prat, I just hadn't gotten around to reading all of the posts in YD lately, they are coming so thick and fast these days it's hard to keep up.. You are bloody lucky mate and I'd like to thank you as have the others for letting us know all of the details. I really hope you get back into the water soon because it's obvious that you love diving and I hope this incident does not stop you doing something so important to you. My very very best regards mate Dave.
