I always keep an eye on my gages depth air time learnt that from day 1, comes as second nature now Max depth was just 6 meters. I was alright when I got out just had a mild headache lasted 30 min. This was about 3 weeks ago the last bank holiday we had. Did`nt have any problems after just lucky i guess. I can say it was a very wierd feeling light headedness with headache and dizzy spinning feeling, Dumped air from my BC closed my eyes and droped back down the problem went away almost immediately.

| Imported post On one of my first dives, I had a rapid ascent from 10m due to underweighting and felt very dizzy at the surface. I've also had it in water when I've had a bit of a cold from relatively small changes in depth. Perhaps it's due to the effect of a rapid change of pressure on your ears as this is what controls your sense of balance?

Sometimes I'll get dizzy at all kind of depths, simply because I get upright having been horizontal for a while... It's my belief that the ears aren't used to the surrounding pressure and thus the balance organ simply can't cope with the changes quick enough. It's just like seasickness.. only different. In my experience one of the main reasons for getting ill/Headache during or after a dive is dehydration. Drink lots of water before and after every dive you do. Kyrre

I'll go exactly with the Norseman on this one. You know how many dives i do during a working week,i used to suffer a bit like what you experienced, but i put mind down to WORK PRESSURE i.e ferry has to sail in 8 minutes and i'm still in the bow thruster with a hack saw cutting a mooring line. Poor viz with a fast ascent, not knowing how fast ya going up, triggers the mind that when you hit the surface ya gonna be bent, this causes worry with = a thumping head. Andy

| Imported post Verigo is caused by a lack of reference points - not necessarily to do with height / depth. If you were in very reduced vis with lots of particles swirling around you this can cause your brain to be fooled into thinking you are moving while your fluid in your inner ear is saying you are motionless. Very similar to travel sickness. I reckon thats what could have brought this on.
