| Imported post <font color='#000080'>hey guys, since having the mother of all colds (if i was a bloke it would have been flu), i have had fresh blood in my snot to the point that there is no snot, just blood. If i blow, i get big clots, if i dont, it just blocks up and runs out anyway. I thought it would have cleared up by now, me not being prone to anything like that in the past. How long should i leave it before : a) contacting my GP b) diving any ideas?

| Imported post Porg I get nose bleeds at any time, usually the same nostril. Always had the problem, cauterising did nothing. Never had them when diving though. Don't worry about it. I tend to find that they don't stop when there is snot up there too, it don't clot. Blow it all out, and pinch the nose. I find a snotrag soaked in cold water sometimes help. Lean over sink at all times. Don't be impatient, a drop can run at any time. Dont pick the dried blood out afterwards - it HURTS. I don't know why, but blood has an odd effect on snot, it can stretch from nose to ground under ideal conditions. Just thought I'd let you into that juicy bit of info. Adrian

Finally (last month) decided (for various reasons [which my wife had nothing to do with - honest] - and three weeks of daily nose bleeds) to go for cauterisation. Great. Broken nose, pain, less daily blood in floods - more continually!! Bleed on lass and don't dive with hungry sharks.
