HSE medicals for pro diving

Hey

I'm just starting my divemaster at the moment and I need a medical. Can anyone tell me where I can get this done and what it involves?
I know about the DDRC and when I'm at home this seems the best choice but I'm back at uni at the moment so I'm in the West Midlands.

Cheers

To take a Divemaster course you don't need an HSE medical. Just the normal PADI one signed off by your GP will do.
An HSE medical will be required only if/when you start working as a dive professional.

You only need an approved HSE Full diving medical and liability insurance to the minimum of the recommendations of the issuing agency. To be renewed yearly or I guess people are all about to be sued.

There is a substancial difference between getting paid for teaching recreational scuba even technical scuba diving to commercial diving. The terms are all easily defined on the internet.

So in summary an active instructor needs:
HSE Full Medical
O2 Provider
First Aid Qualification
Insurance

This is for the UK.

PADI insist that the O2 overview in the Rescue course is sufficient for an instructor in the UK (unless they've changed recently), but I would definitely recommend DAN O2 provider.
