From what I understood I had nothing to be concerned about but avoid the stress. (Yah, as if!). If getting stressed should use the herbal pills. If those don't work then try something stronger.
I'm seeing the family doctor on friday ansd will ask him about this. The pains are no fun though - it was a sharp pain.

Dom,

Some of us really support you and know you have the shit end of the stick. When I have really needed the NHS they have always come up trumps. For non urgent stuff I use BUPA and that is money well spent.

I hope all the YDers who get a bit of a pain in their chests don't immediately sprint (slowly) to A&E!

Glad it wasn't the feared heart attack Chris and well done for taking prompt action.

Exactly Jen, the page gives some excellent guidance about what to worry about, and conversely some pretty firm ideas about what constitutes non cardiac related chest pain.

I get intercostal pain alot (feels like a tight pain in between rib bones) and worse thing to do is cough and sneeze! Found out it is stress related; I have used Valarium Root (herbal remedy) for many years now, only have them when I feel like I'm losing it, which isn't very often these days. Another suggestions for 'frangled nerves' is a good Vitamin B complex, something like Brewers Yeast in tablet form, as the B-group are needed alot for healthy nervous systems. Take a high enough dose to turn your pee yellow for a couple of weeks then drop down to recommended dosage!

That is what the doctor suggested for me to take. I just got it from the pharmacy and will give it a try. Ideally I need to reduce the cause of the stress, but can't do that overnight.

If you eat alot of refined foods, (sugar, white bread, that sort of thing), and enjoy a drink or two, I would actually look into seeing if you are getting enough vitamins, particularly the B-complex ones, as these (apart from B12) are water soluble, so do need to top these up daily.

As for tackling non-physical side of stress, only you can take stock, figure out what is important and what is not.

Basically, if you worry about something, yet you are unable to do anything about it, then what is achieved by worrying? (that is something said by the Dalai Lama and strikes a chord with me!)

Good Luck though, and I've not come across a side effect from long term Valarian use yet.

Lou

I am fortunate with my diet. I have fruit for breakfast and currently my orange trees are producing some juicy oranges. It's tough streching out of the window and picking an orange whenever I peckish!

The stress is work related & having own business, some times it is hectic, sometimes less hectic! I could do with another set of hands but can't afford it yet.

Need to go back in the water. That should help

I suffer a lot from stress in my job. One of the best things I find is a hard workout, hard enough to get the Endomorphines(sp) going this really hepls me. Worth a try it can only do you good.
