I've found a really interesting article on the Ten Foot Stop Blog, written by a diving doc;

Ten Foot Stop News Blog » Diving After Head Injury

The General consensus is;

Diving may be resumed or started after head injury if:
1.) No drugs are required
2.) There has not been loss of consciousness greater than 30 minutes
3.) There are no localizing signs
4.) There has not been amnesia longer than one hour.

and the BSAC Recommendations;
“The length of post traumatic amnesia (PTA) including any period of unconsciousness may be used as an index to the severity of injury. Where PTA has been less than one hour, there should be a three week layoff from diving. With PTA of an hour to 24 hours, there should be a two month layoff. Where the period of PTA exceeds 24 hours, there inevitably has been severe brain damage and there is considerable likelihood of subsequent epilepsy and impaired mental functioning. A minimum period off diving of three months is suggested and cerebral function should have returned to normal."

Both paragraphs are from the above linked website. (So those of you who are pedantic don't need to hunt for the source and post the link for me).

Get well soon.

thank you for all the kind advice ....personally I think I can just about manage a neuro exam .... what with all the bloody practice I get!

Helen was given an examination by me, our local GP ... AandE nurse ... hospital consultant and the dog ...she is also banned from doing anything more complicated from tying her shoelaces (and that has to be under supervision)

well I was tempted to use the old "well boats can be dangerous places" line, but after this tap on the noggin it might send Helen over the edge,so I will stay out of it (and the engine room by the sounds of things)

Oi, i was on the farm Baloo!

Thanks chaps, i figured there had to be some official advice somewhere. Last thing i remember clearly was feeding the deer stag in the field, after that its all a mystery. Could have been out cold for 30 seconds or 10 minutes, we dont know but missing bit of my day is maximum about 10 - 15 minutes. So looks like a three week layoff for me, but will go off what the quack says.

And no Garf, the pipe wasnt damaged (cheeky shitebag)

maybe with how clumsy she is, shoelaces are a risk not worth taking, Velcro is the way forward
