Question Diving after a head injury

Ok, im a muppet in extreme. Managed to knock myself out yesterday (fell over something and headbutted a pipe, and yes i was bloody sober), we dont know how long the lights were out for, probably not long but i was out of it for a while afterwards. Admitted to hospital for about 6 hours observation, x-rays etc all normal.

Any ideas how long im out of the water with this one? Know i will probably end up seeing a diving doc but im impatient and wondered if anyone else had been there before me.

Ta muchly

*sigh*

I told you to be careful up there in the Arctic..

Simple answer: wait until the Doctor sees you - as she/he will know best.. Concussion is an unpredictable beast..

I was clear and back in the water in a week, but then, as mentioned before, head injuries are unpredictable beasts.

I had a fractured skull and perforated eardrum after a road accident. Doctors specifically told me never to dive... ahem... Most of them buy their degrees off the internet or when they fail their veterinary exams they get shoved in A&E instead. At least half can't even read. At least that's what the Daily Mail told me...

Hiya Helen, you're a bit accident prone aren't you? After a bang on the bonce, if there is any worrying swelling in the bonce, it will usually be apparent within a couple of days, if not sooner. After a week, if you are OK, you will probably remain OK.

DIY neuro observations.....Get Hazel to check your pupils are the same size, shine a light in each eye and see if the pupils contract the same. Squeeze her hands with yours, grips should be equal. If you feel sick, dizzy, unreasonably sleepy or weak, get yourself back to the quack.

And wear a crash helmet and wrap some cotton wool around yourself girl.

They don't need to, as none of them can write either.

You muppet Helen, broken arm, now this. What kind of heath & safely record are you aiming for?

If you're not careful, you might damage something important next time.

coat

get well soon and look after yourself - and don't worry, the big bits of metal will still be there underneath the sea when you are well again, they aren't going anywhere

The fact that you were unconcious for an undetermined period....better to wait and get yourself cleared for diving by a doctor.
I'm sure the sea won't dry out by the time you are cleared.

The UKSMDC recommend a period of three weeks off diving after a head injury if the period of unconsciousness or Post Traumatic Amnesia (ie the time you can't remember) is less than 1 hour.
As everone else has sais talk to a "diving doc"
