what is a PFO
Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO)

I was asked the otherday about pfo's other than a hole in hart I realised I knew very little. so I googled it :-)

Things of interest concerning divers and PFOs...

As a diver, the problem is that bubbles which are passing into your heart with your blood to be off-gassed in the lungs, can get pushed through the PFO (hole) and instead of being breathed out via the lungs, get sent round the arterial blood suply - to your organs, joints, muscles - all the rest of your body really. As you ascend, the bubble, which started off really small, begins to expand and gets trapped, as it gets trapped it can cause all sorts of other damage, reduced blood flow, block nerve signal etc - you just got bent.

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.
