Sorry to hear of the problem. Don't know if you would want to try it but I use Docs Pro Plugs - the vented variety. I used to get a lot of ear infections and was told not to get my ears wet..... a bit difficult for a diver. These keep water out but allow you to equalise.

They can be obtained from musician shops as they are sold to prevent musicians deafening themselves with loud music but I have been using them for the past 3 years without a problem. You have to be measured for fit though.

Cheers

Lyvia

I don't want to be a grandfather yet so I was trying to find him other things to do!!
He's now resigned to only snorkling as he has enjoyed his diving so much since training he is looking forward to the joys of UK dives now instead of the warm tropical waters of the indian ocean. Thanks again for all the advice.
My next challenge is to get him to sign up to Yorkshire Divers, maybe thats the way to keep him busy!

Ah, I would say one thing, I have a post here because I also perforated my eardrum, people in the forum were really helpful, unlike the ENTs I've been to .. just keep it DRY ALWAYS, no matter what! I made over 50 dives after it sealed, it feels funny yes, sometimes I cant equalize and I dont try again, I end the dive. So yes, it will seal, well .. 90% maybe .. depending on how big the hole is. And dont watch war movies, the ringing after throwing granades scared me to death! I though I perforated my ear again
