Gallstones

I've been diagnose as having a blockage from my liver and am currently awating a scan to confirm if i have Gallstones as my GP predicts....... its been going on for a number of weeks. i was initially diagnosed with a Stomach Ulcer, under went treatment and now feel fine from that but they have diagnosed my liver problem from my blood tests, is it wise to dive with the problem i am undergoing tests for??

I had been suffering with Gallstones for over a year prior to diagnosis and like you had had the pain assigned to other ailments. I had my gall bladder removed last Feb via keyhole surgery and wasnt allowed to dive for 6 weeks. As for diving while your still suffering I would talk to your GP as blockages from gallstones can be very complicated.

If a stone obstructs one of the ducts (tubes) that join the gall bladder to the liver and the gut there is a theoretical risk of gas trapping. A bigger problem might be sudden onset pain during the dive. I would seek advice from a diving doctor.
