| 'Shaving' Foam to stop Hangman's Neck... Last trip I was away, I used some stuff from one of the other dives on the boat which looked like shaving foam (but wasn't) and called something like Dermoprotect; it was quite successful in preventing Hangman's neck. I have a maximum of 9 dives planned starting monday and I would like to get hold of some of the stuff. I have tried BioSeals and whilst they work, I don't want to risk splitting the seal while on this trip. Any ideas what the stuff is called and where I can get it from? Regards

| Sounds like it was a aerosol barrier cream that you would use in a workshop or garage. RS sold it but there website is down, i did find this one - DermaShield Beaten to the post by Scubee

| Siopel also works. (Available from Boots). It's an antiseptic waterproof barrier cream. As far as I can tell it doesn't harm latex seals. Not suitable if you're allegic to peanuts though!! edit: Siopel contains peanut oil so it's not suitable....

It use to be two dives at the weekend and the noose marks lasted the week. Now I do a week diving and have a few little blotches. |

| Puffin (Diving in Scotland with Puffin Dive Centre I think) sell a lanolin foam that works a treat - called Barrex. Me and my team have used it for years. 1 can lasts for months. |

| We buy barrier cream in 20 kg drums. Lovely pink stuff. I have a neoprene seal though so this "hangmans neck" is a foreign concept to me.

| Try wiping your neck and the inside of the latex with fresh water on a cloth after every dive mate - works for me. Problem seems to be second dives where dried salt crystals on neck and/or seal react with latex/neck.
