So my tip is to keep your reg in and your gob shut when you jump off the boat.
And freediving's out, unless you want to be brunette...

A good tip we learn't is take some of the antibacteria hospital like hand wash.

It's called Cuticurex and you can get it from all super markets. Use it frequently and especially after handling the money. second time we went to Sharm both the mrs and I we free from Egyptian belly and we eat anything

took some anti bacterial wipes from work, wiped hands after handling cash, and even wiped the money! Lots of water and Isostar to rehydrate. Ate whatever I felt like, and no tummy probs at all. Must have been drinking 6 or 7 litres of water a day.

I would be careful of prophylactically taking antibiotics, could upset the natural flora of the gut, causing more problems than you realise.

I wash my hands with milton hand wash - it is one of the non water cleaners.... so before I eat I slap this stuff on.... when you wash your hands with soap and water, it still leaves some water behind..... the alchol wash kills off the bugs... so I use soap and water as normal, then the hand wash just before eating....

I also take multibiolta tablets as a preventative - they contain probiotics... these seem to work... and when ppl have taken them when ill abroad, they seem to help quickly.

When showering, keep gob SHUT... personally when washing my hair/face I presurise my mouth.

The last one sounds daft, but I've spent liveaboards wishing for something to stop the pain....

also be careful with bottles.... I usually drink from glasses, not the bottles...

I drink lots of water, and carry some lucosade sport powders (in sachets) incase i feel iffy....

some simple precautions make a whole world of difference...

Hope you have a great time,
Neil

A couple of things picked up on from what I've read...

Antinal is an antibiotic, in the UK, the only antibiotic suggested for "traveller's diarrhoea" is ciprofloxacin and it is prescription only, you won't get anything similar easily in the UK.

As for Immodium (Loperamide), it does work, but sometime shutting in the problem can make things worse, if you want to get it, try asking your pharmacist if they have any generic product rather than branded (might not work as there are strict guidelines on sale of loperamide to the public as it is actually a prescription only medicine except in certain circumstances).

As for rehydration salts - great stuff. I have just discovered these - Nuun the tri-berry tastes nice and they come in small tubes that are easy to pack.

Exclamation Buscopan

My girlfriend swears by Buscopan. Helps to ease the stomach cramps brought on by a dodgy stomach. You can by it in Tesco without a perscription.

Use something else to help "block you up" though.
