| HSE Medical Right, got my medical tomorrow.... bit nervous to be honest as I don't find needles very friendly and I don't like the idea of 'blood test'. Saying that, I've heard about three or four reports that it isn't a full test, just a prick on the finger. Now, as I can't sleep, can anyone put my mind at rest, or am I going to be a quivering wreck tomorrow?! |

| Yay! Green for letting me sleep! |

| Anyone confirm if this is true? I've got several offers of work if i get the medical. If it involves a needle im probably going to skip, if not i'll consider it. (yes i really do hate needles that much).

| There are no needles. They put a little clicker on your thumb and click it. It's less sore than being pinched, and it's just for the diabetes test.

| I had my HSE medical recently and can confirm the above - it's just one of those blood sugar counts, so just a little pin prick on your finger and one drop of blood onto a stick! (I was bricking it too - mainly because of work I'd not actually been to sleep for 36 hours before my medical!) I didn't have to give a blood sample on my first HSE medical (and I have the commercial ones too - not the divemaster ones which they skip loads of stuff on). |

| As everyone says, it's just a little prick on the finger very similar to a diabetes test but I think it is to check your blood haemoglobin count. Cheers, Dan |

| Bit of an old thread this! But I may finish the story! In my medical I gave two samples of blood for a FBC. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I guess that all doctors are different! |
