Running carries its own inherrant dangers, shinsplints, compression of knee, hip or ankle joints. Running is a Weight bearing exercise. The problems will be magnified the heavier you are. Running is not a complete body exercise, thus not being the most effective. Rowing engages all the major muscle groups and forces body to work as one unit, rather than legs and arms working independantly, this causes alot of the power to be transmitted through the core, preventing injury, improving our fitness through a broader spectrum. In short Rowing is the way forward. start on simple programmes like 2k time trials at a steady state. after a couple of months move onto more challenging rows like 300m x 10 rest = 60 seconds at 80% intensity Enjoy ![]() |
