Hi, Rustferret, you didn't say what gas you were breathing at depth, or whether you were OC or CC, but since your eyesight deteriorates at depth, there is the possibility that your myopia is caused by exposure to high ppo2. Myopia onset and loss of peripheral vision can occur even at relatively shallow depths, the good news being that it usually reverses after a fairly short time breathing air, for example on a half hour deco stop, or shortly after you get out of the water.

Leigh,

Thats interesting however I am not loosing periferal vision just the ability to see close up and this happens when diving on air! When not in the water I wear varifocals for distance and close up.

Any further thoughts?

Rustferret.

need some empirical evidence.
give the stick on lenses a go to correct the vision and then report if you still get the problem.

if it's not as bad on the corrected eye, then I'd expect it would probably be as Fee describes
