I think the main point will be "a bit of a tilt" as in still nicely in line, just slightly tilted, as opposed to the "seahorse" position you mention.
When I did my Fundamentals course (the first one where trim was really brought out as rigorously as it is) one of the exercises we did was to lay on the floor about 1.5m from a wall and show how far up we could see on the wall ..... it's a remarkably long way!!

A bit of a tilt is always an interesting measure To some that's about 5 degrees off the horizontal ... to others it's 45 degrees !!

As long as you can't see the surface that's fine, right?

Sorry if I didn't make myself too clear.

One should have a streamlined, COMFORTABLE, trim when diving.

Commonsense I know, but it is surprising how many divers arrive on the boat after a dive and you will see them turning and twisting their neck. It is a sign that their position underwater is not comfortable, and places stress on their neck muscles.

Dive safety and fun is all about AWARENESS!

That's why I mentioned what, to some, may be the obvious, but to others may be: "Now, why didn't I think about that?"

Safe diving to all,

Seadeuce

I'd agree with that with the caveat that any active sport is going to require some form of muscle strength improvement and or stretching. When first learning then it can be accepted as your body gets used to the new "stresses" on it .... but after a while the muscles become comfortable in what was previously an "awkward" posture .... ask any new horse rider whether sitting with your legs akimbo and your toes pointing at the sky whether it's comformtable and they will tell you not. However it is the best position to be in to ride.

The same goes for trim in my view.

Well yes, and I hasten to add that I was not quoting my friend who, I'm sure, phrased it far more eloquently but I think you got my drift

It would, of course, be nice if we could just roll, somersault etc and given the room I reckon we should. When there's space and viz I sometimes look between my legs to check on lagging buddies

Do you normally find your lagging buddies between your legs, then ?
