Unhappy meniere's disease

About 5 weeks ago i started to suffer from sever vertigo, constant sickness, tinnitus and deafness in the right ear. Also traveling up just a small hill was causing pain and pressure in both ears, just like going from surface to 20mtrs without equalizing. Even traveling in a car, going any speed and especially during the night time the sickness was bad to say the least, it was like the feeling of having way to much beer, not being able to look up as the head spins and usually followed by being sick.
Well after many pills and doctors and hospital visits it seems i have whats know as meniere's disease. Is there anybody out there that has this and still dives?
Diving has been my main passion for the past 12 years now and the thought of not being able to dive just doesn't bare thinking about.
ATM I'm due at the ENT specialist this week to discuss what can be done for treatment, but as yet I've not discussed diving with the doctors.
So anybody out there suffer or know of a diving buddy with this condition please share your thoughts.

Many thanks

Ric (weightless)

I was diagnosed with it about 10 years ago - I took six months off and all was fine and have been diving regularly since.

The bad news is that my personal research - conducted 10 years ago so I can't recall the details - led me to believe that I had been misdiagnosed.

Good luck

Weightless,

I have a family member who has meniers, and has had it now for about 5 years.

When she's between episodes pressure changes aren't a problem but when she's in an episode - well, you know what its like.

I think its a question that really only you and a diving doc can answer.

One thing I have noticed is that as time goes on the gap between episodes gets longer and longer and so it becomes less of a problem.

There a lot of info and groups on the internet, so it might be worth you also asking the question there.

Goodluck,

Craig.

Try here Meniere's Disease - Patient UK

and here Ménière's Society - Helping people with vertigo, tinnitus and deafness

and then speak to a diving doc
