Is there anything I can do to stop my reg pushing so far across my mouth???!!!
Rachael
Its down to hose routing or wrong lenth hose. Get someone to change your hoses around.

where in the country are you I bet your near another Yder who could sort this out in a jiffy :-)

I can echo Scubee's comments as i had the same problem, but they solved the grief i was getting, think their about £15ish.

Try putting a 24" hose on the primary reg Rachael. Its an Alpha 8 which is extrememly lightweight already - so it isn't a weight issue. I'd try to avoid swivels - I don't think they make much difference to comfort and its another thing to go wrong

Hi all,

Thanks for your thoughts - my mouth piece is comfy, it doesn't hurt my gums at all - I think I've got the Alpha's comfybite mouth piece, I did buy another (can't remember what - sorry!) and it was almost too comfortable, that due to the reg pushing I had a bite down like I was having an anaemia to keep it in my mouth!!

I think it is the length of the hose...definetly going to try another hose length, slightly shorter probably!

Cheers
Rach

Just another thought before you go spending money. It is hard to see which hose is which from the pic, but which port does the hose come out of? - does another hose come out of one on top, and leave you with a hose pushing down on your reg? If you have both your 2nd stages coming out of the left, make sure your primary hose isnt being caught by your alternate hose.

Mrs F,

You have the Apeks Comfibite - which is ace. We bought some of the cheapies from fleebay and whilst they were the right shape they were very, very soft and needed hard biting to hold them - the apeks ones are much better.

Re. hose routing, we have tried swapping it to make it shorter so it doesnt 'push' so much, but that made it too short and it 'pulled'!! I think a good idea would be to try a few other hoses, maybe swap with mine?

Your hose does seem very stiff compared to my ones.....

Mr F

Quite agree, those things should only really be used at the 1st stage end, you need as much flexibility as you can get at the 2nd stage end, for precisely this reason.

I use a long hose, GUE/DIR style if in single tank mode. When using the twins independently, the 2nd tank hose is octopus length and routed to my mouth underarm rather than over the top. I've never liked large loops of hose sprouting above my shoulder/s anyway.
