PFO Appointment

Well I've only passed a small comment on this, but the event is looming and I've now got my first appointment with the cardiologist this week.

I am presuming that this is just a discussion to see if they can even help, then book the test etc etc.

What questions do I need to ask the consultant? I know he'll ask me what, why, how, where and when etc so I can answer his questions, but what sorts of things should I be asking HIM?

Any help would be appreciated.

Why are you getting tested? Bend or Migraine?
You need the Bubble Study( contrast echo) totally painless, I should know I've had 3 now.
If they try to do the echo device down the throat. Tell them that they must really hate you. Well that's what PW told me

Aaran, I will ask about diving. But do you really think I'm going to listen to what he says?!?!? LOL

I've got it into my head that they won't have a clue about diving and things, and that they're just cardiologists. That's why I wondered what questions I need to ask.

Bloody hell Julie, I would jolly well hope you do! The sea will always be there to dive another day, provided you are there to dive it! Helen FH, Ali, SimonTW, Mary and quite a few others on YD have experience of this and have posted about it - if you look for their threads you should find the answers you need. Hope the tests go well for you but DO AS YOU ARE TOLD!

Thanks, tho! I'll see how it goes. I just wasn't sure if there was something specific I should ask the consultant. I assume this is just a "chat" appointment, and IF he wants to do a bubble test that'll be another 4 month wait etc! Once I know for sure if I've got it then I'll chat more with people here. To make the decision etc. But for now it's all "ifs and buts". To be honest, wish someone was coming with me to the appointment. (Not a hint, PeeBee!) Cos it's always nice to discuss with someone. But as soon as I'm out I'll be asking millions of questions on here, no doubt!!!!
