I have asthma, that was during my childhood quite bad, but nowadays i havent had any major problem in years.

Nevertheless i use common sense. I dont dive if i have a cold, i call a dive if i get in the water and dont feel 100%, and i tend not to dive below 20m. Also my doctor, an asthmatic, told me to take the ventolin prior to diving as a 'cover your ass' procedure. He does, so i guess if its good for him, then i'll go with the flow.

Similarly i take becotide as a prophylactic, but its effect happen 2 weeks in the future.

The key things are to exercise and eat well. Take a few supplements like Zinc, Vit E, Vit C, Cod Liver Oil. Keep your weight down if you can. The diving is a lot easier that way.

This post would have helped a couple of months ago as found our we are expecting our third child!!
I have had asthma the last 30 years and have been diving the last 7. There seems to be a pattern of people diving with asthma who are not effected by the cold or exercise.
You know your own lungs by now, if you get that old familiar feeling, give it a miss for the day.
