I thought vasodilators were bad because they can wear off half way through a dive........ Blood vessel dilate, lots of blood flows, tissues get saturated. Blood vessels constrict, not a lot of flow, gasses trapped, bubbles form.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but being on a low carb or zero carb diet, you are more likely to be dehydrated than if on a 'normal' diet. And there is a proven link with DCS and dehydration...

(The Atkin's diet book does mention you need at least 2-3l water a day when following it.)

(Whether this is attributed to water being produced with carbohydrate metablism; although saying that, when proteins are metabolised, when the NH group is stripped off, you get a 'carbohydrate' of sorts, but whether the body requires more water to expel the NH group? I dunno. Just me babbling on.....)
