Wisdom Teeth and diving

I vaguely remember hearing something that an impacted or annoying wisdom tooth may have an effect on a dive, bring on DCI or cause equalizing problems. Has anyone else heard anything like this...

Nope but I've had a buddies tooth rupture on ascent!! Something unnerving about hearing screams through bubbles!!

Its not a DCI you're thinking of.

If you have an absess or a broken tooth, air will seep into it during the dive and won't come out fast enough during an ascent, thereby exploding the tooth as it expands. Not a very nice thing to happen. Imagine a grenade going off in your mouth.
