    Ascents are fine.

Stops in still (quarry) water are fine.

Stops in the sea where there is some swell is where it starts, hence the possiblity of motion causing the problem.

Yeah I just re-read the OP weird how it doesn't start on the boat though ??
A bad day diving is better than a good day at work..

    Hi.

My very first sea dive about 37 years ago was a shore dive at St Abb's in early March.

The weather was sunny but very windy and there was a big swell coming in.

I kitted up in my home made wet suit threw my 60cu ft tank on complete with Snark valve a single hose valve that had just come out, instead of the usual twin hose captain custard used, no buoyancy aids in them days just dumping your weight belt in an emergency.
I fought my way through the surf with my buddy until we hit about 10 meters depth on a sandy bottom with the occasional clump of rock festooned in seaweed, my buddy would disappear inside the weed looking for crabs and I was hovering about 3ft from the bottom.
The swell was surging to and fro about 20 ft away one minute from my Buddy the next I was swept along only to be deposited at the side of him on the next swell.
I thought this was great especially as the viz was fantastic I had never thought it would be as clear as this.
Anyway after about three quarters of an hour of this I suddenly felt queasy and before you could shout Hughie I puked through my valve carrots the works I signaled to my buddy I was going up and made the surface turned round to see the shore about half a mile away, Shit! my legs had turned to jelly and I had the energy level of how I am now, and there was this swim back through the ever rising sea state back to shore.

Made it back after a long swim tumbled out of the surf and flopped on the sand.
It turned out we were the only two to get out and all the "Big hitters" had all bottled it.
What a first sea dive .
bubbling 33 years, silent now 6 years, its still the quiet life for me .

I just thought I'd update this thread. I was diving in Poole a month or so ago and on one particularly shallow dive felt quite rough early into the dive, headed for the surface and immediately vomited. The next day I tried Stugeron (thanks Al_Star!) and felt fine.

For a month now I've been using stugeron on most sea dives and haven't had any sickness problems at all. As for side affects I haven't noticed any difference underwater although a couple of times felt rather sleepy after dives on the drive home but that could be as much to do with getting up early etc.

Thanks a lot for the help guys.

    Talking stugeron

I always use stugeron for the first boat dives of the season, but if I take more than one, they completely knock me out. I once fell asleep sitting on the tube of the club RIB doing 20 knots in a rough sea and didn't wake up until they were on their way back to get me!
