True, a test in only good for the duration of the test itself, but, at least I know from my results that stochastically (according to soon-to-be-published N.I.C.E data ) there's only a 4% risk of me developing an MI or stroke within the next ten years, which seems fine.

I agree that if someone is in one of the risk groups then they should get a medical. Smoking is one major risk group and as ChrisP mentioned weight and exercise are the other biggies.
