| Make sure that you complete your course after you come back as well, as that's why most people get malaria Fee |

| Keep off Larium, they sometimes and very often have awful side affects, however you need to check with your Health Centre for the type to use, because each country has different anti-malaria tablets. Some types don't work in some places and others are very effective. However you will have enough to worry about in India with stomach bugs. Make sure you get some thing off the doctor with you for that, a real major worry? Cheers Ron

| Yup i'll support Ron on that one, I was on a course of Larium and it had some strange effects, worse when combined with South African Castle lager which is a bit of a killer. Several of our group diving off Kenya were on Larium with no ill effects (diving wise). I have dived for 10 days whilst on Paludrine, no problems. Cannot remember what the other one was i was on with it. Worst effects were on Nevquine after which i ended up having ECG's and all sorts of tests 'cos it gave me chest pains. Bit scarey when i walked into the med centre and told them 'cos i was about 38 at the time and just back from a PT session, they all started flapping thinking i was having a heart attack. I would not dive on that one. Hope you have a good trip. Paul

| anti-malaria drugs Yeah man, It is important to bear in mind that when taking anti-malaria drugs there is a possible risk of a change in seizure control. Because of this, your doctor may advise you to stop driving for a period of time , (possibly up to six months). For safety, you may also decide to avoid activities such as some sports, until you and your doctor feel sure that your seizures are under control. ----------------------- fosamax is better |

| Wow, today's "post from the past!". I found that the tablets I took when I went to India a few years ago made me feel sick when underwater! So, not a good thing. I was out in the Philippines recently and was taking Malarone (sp?) without any side affects, other than an empty wallet! dan |

| TAKE MALARONE!!! It may cost a little more, but I have seen the effects of not taking anything and I would rather have Larium than that. My wife and I took Malarone for 4 weeks in Borneo (that is the bit glowing bright red on the "Malaria Hot-Spots Map") and we had absolutely no ill effects at all. We might have been taking vitamin C tablets. Some of the other people we met that were on Larium had occasional problems. Tell your company that if they want you to do an effective job out there they had better pay for the good stuff. You may not want to hand over all of your knowledge to them but at least you would not be suffering. It is your call but I would rather pay for something that is going to do the job without messing with my head. Good Luck Midnight
