Question First Trip to Sharm - which kit to take?

So the date is set. I am going to sharm on the 26. this month. going to stay there for 14 days. So I am wondering what dive gear would you recomend that I bring with me? .. Stupid question I know, but I have never been on a dive trip like this before.

No time to list kit, but I am sure someone will. Later.

Smile kit list

hi,lucky you. i m also going to sharm. i go on the 17th for a week which i m really looking forward to. back to the kit though. this is the kit that i m taking with me, so i hope it helps you with your decision.
*full foots fins....as they weigh less than adjustable
*rash vest
*shorti
*full wetsuit
*two torches
*bcd
*regs...octopus..
*dive comp.
*with of course spending money, toiletries etc.

but with regards to the wetsuit that you will need a 5mm full should do, i m only taking two as i get pretty cold and i m hoping to do as much diving as
possible so i don t want anything to stop me.
thats all that i can think of at the minute. hope it has been a help, i hope that you have an ace time...i m sure that you will

If you normally use a pony book it on day one

Depends on how much diving you do and how you feel the cold but I use a 5m semi dry pretty much all the time in the red sea. The rest of the time I use a dry suit. I don’t ever remember being too warm apart from kitting up but I have been cold plenty of times

As far as kit is concerned, take what you can carry. Don’t bother with primary reels and stuff like that but do take an SMB and a small back up reel or spool if you have one. Surfacing amongst 20 livaboards on the Thistlegorm because you missed the shot will be a lot safer with an SMB And if you get lost the boat will have a better chance of spotting you.

I take spare fin straps spare mask spare computer and every thing else apart from my tanks. Gloves are often banned when reef diving but your allowed them on wrecks. If your diving a lot, take ear calm and swim ear and use it every day. Sea sick pills, plasters, Sinutab are also handy if on a livaboard. I take dioreah tablets headache tablets and antibiotics as well.

Have fun

Just to back up what Mark said - SMB and small reel is a good idea. I found myself wanting one on occasion.

Hi

To add to what the others have said and having just come back from Sharm.

It was my impression that most tanks are now filled by the grotty 'filling barge' in the Travco mariner. The o rings are notoriously pants so taking some can save some bother. Something else I will be taking next time is an allen key to get the A clamp/din adaptors out of the tank valves. Not sure which size it is though so hopefully somebody else will know.

I usually suffer with my ears, especially towards the end of a weeks diving. But this time I had no trouble at all. My secret....chewing a couple of tabs of chewing gum with Xylitol in it, (as recommended in the last Diver), and sucking on a Halls methol sweet before kitting up. I'd done this earlier on in the year in the UK aswell and it seems to work for me anyway.

Where/who are you staying/diving with?

Have a good one

Rob

PS Take a few packs of fruity sweets......oooh how good do they taste after a days diving....limit yourself to a couple of sweets a day, you wouldn't want to overdo the pleasure now would you! *

PSS *of course they may just be me!
