I never dive with a snorkel but I ALWAYS take one on dive trips abroad. So far I have snorkelled with manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins, white tip sharks, black tip sharks and schooling hammerhead sharks. To date I have never regretted having a snorkel stashed somewhere (usually on the boat) but I have frequently regretted not having one.
