I have seen a couple of posts elsewhere to suggest the reliability issue is not solved. Much as I like the unit and the price I wouldn't have one as a gift.

possibly too late now, but diver magazie are giving away bags with a 2 year subscription, possibly worth a look

I'm gonna go with the free torch as I already have a nice big sailing bag!

thoughts

Ladies bcd try Seac Sub regs are good best prices also
Scubapro also good both easy to service
second hand is a good idea for beginners then buy the right stuff to replace and then give some other newbie a chance

My good lady has the Diva LX - she is very slim, but found it suited her much better than all the other BCs she had used.

Everyone has a different shape - some women, be they large, small, short or tall may find a particular mens bc works fine for them.

I think the female specific ones tend to be a bit easier when on the surface, which is an important factor

My friend bought a buddy exploorer as its slightly shorter in the cut than a comando. shes quite happy with that she's short with 4'6" and small tits size 12 so it ll give you a clue.

Hi all! Thought I'd give you a quick update on my progress

Bag - brought a £15 one from the local luggage shop, pretty light with wheels, 110ltr & doesn't scream dive bag!
Computer - ordered a geeko from LDS should arrive this weekend, can't wait to give that a go,
BCD & Regs - even after some finance shuffling these are going to have to wait until later in the year, gutted

But thanks for all of your replies, have flagged this thread for when I'm affluent!
