| calling someone a mug just because i dont wish to use a drysuit IS trying to belittle someone imo. and being as i do not want a drysut you persist in assuming i dont know my ass from my elbow on this, just because i have only been diving several months does not mean im jumping in without searching for info and trying things out 1st hand. maybe i should have rephrased the question about the suits longevity and build quality, and also mentioned i didnt want a drysuit. im all for advice and a lighthearted ribbing, but i feel theres alot of "know it all ism" around. and when you dont ask for that peice of info and get called a mug etc for not wanting it,it kinda evaporates my good humour pretty quick. | Upsurper, Please listen to the words of wisdom that have been posted, nobody is trying to blittle you or call you a mug, like u, I ask questions to learn of our beloved sport, I'm what you call a "lurker", I dont post much because I feel that as and AOW diver with 58 dives in Scottlish lochs I still class myself as a novice and I havent earned my "spurs" yet, so I look, read, learn, and then tranfer what I have learned into my diving, if it wasent for the words of wisdom on here and the advantage of having a tremendous buddy I would have thrown the towel in long ago, you said the wife wont wear dry suit and only wants to dive in warm waters, great, good for her, may she dive safe and enjoy, now you, on the other hand have been bitten by the bug of diving in British waters, I dive all year round I wouldent dream of diving in anything other than a dry suit, bless you O'Three, I remender 2 years ago my buddy and myself took an English guy diving who had newly moved to Edinburgh from down South to Conger Ali In Loch Fyne, he had advertised on the internet so being the good, friendly, smelly socks that we are we introduced him to the delights of good old Scottish seawater loch diving, this was early summer by the way, he turned up at the Pit Stop at Arrocher with 5mm semi dry, after much raised eye brows and sage advise from us he still insisted that he would be ok, no problem lad he says, after the dive his teeth were chattering so much he could have cut cold steel with them, bottom line is if you want to dive all year round in British waters at LEAST consider the advise you have recieved on here, If you want to stick to warm water diving them the semi dry is the way to go, you've been bitten by the bug lad, go to your LDS/club and try a dive with a dry suit, in the pool or in shallow water with supervision, what have you got to lose!, if you are serious about diving in British waters all year round, doing deeper diving, it is the way to go, believe me lad you will be back on here starting a thread called "Which Drysuit" before long, |

| Chris sorry if thats how you imagine forums work, pushin your opinions on someone who didnt ask for that adivce isnt my idea of help tbfh. bert thanks for the 2nd comment, and whilst i do appreciate the dry suit factor this wasnt about that, i will be using my semidry for surfing come winter months as it gives me as much movement as my 5mm wetsuit, thats another reason why i went semidry, i could also then spend more money on what i personally think is more important ie lifesupport ie regs. oh and if in yrs to come i decide to go drysuit, i woulndt dare start a topic about it |
