First Set Of Dive Gear: Discuss Have I Done The Right Thing!?! in the Dive Kit and Equipment forums: It makes a superb backup though. Good point but I prefer to use Kent Spooling for its compact nature....

I gave up using a spool, couldn't get on with them. The nice thing about the little CD reel is that it doesn't take up any more space in the drysuit pocket than a spool did.
Still prefer a nice big reel as a primary though

I totally agree, a big reel maybe cumbersome but it makes life a hell of a lot easier on the way back! Oh and dont forget when carrying a CD mini reel the space that the tweezers take up in order to reel back in with

nah monkey the reel is fine, I use a spool, but it's personal preference and the cd reel is fine.

No you haven't, All CD stuff is well made and will last a lifetime. The only reason the thread has diverged onto a slighly different topic is the pocket reel and its benefits as a backup, if necessary, some people prefer spools just the same way that some people prefer blondes.

All the kit you chose sounds good to me.

Noel.

Agreed. The CD pocket reel is fine. Once/if you start doing deeper dives you may want a bigger one (more line + more comfortable to rewind) but even then the CD reel will make a great backup.

Now stop worrying about it and take it diving
