| Apeks are cutting the ATX series and discounting madly to dealers so there should be some bargains coming over the next 6 months ........rumour says up to 50% off .......so the Dive show might be the place to bargain db The 40 or 50 no problem with either and once the 40 is set you rarely need to adjust it and its just an allen key ? |

| I think you should go with an ATX 50, as you never know when bring able to wind the wheel out giving you more air after a bit of hard finning in a current may come in handy. Similarly I would not worry about paying more for the wide exhaust T that you will get with the XTX's(neglible difference anyway IMO), they are essentially the same regs, same performance, your just paying for them being newer and wide exhast T option and the option of having it feed from the left shoulder. |

You won't be breathing off trimix in the shallows, so no bother there. And you won't be using thick gas deep (narcosis) so no bother there either. Of course I use the TX50 now and again when I want a reg which I can detune as I won't be breathing off it, and if I do need to use it for extended periods I can turn it up a bit. Like a necklaced reg. But then I don't see it as a necessary, a detuned reg will do the job just fine - if you've had to resort to a necklaced reg you won't be on it for long as you come up to switch gas, and the fact it's not easy as pie is a compromise but a valid one. Digs. |
