If you buy new £700 won't get you far

If you just want a basic OW kit then start by getting yourself an old buddy commando off ebay - I got mine for £60, it is over 20 yrs old and still trusty. I use a commando BCD 5 years down the line since qual and it is all I need for general OW diving

Regs wise my suggestion is a s/h set of Cyklons or Apeks regs, both of which crop up on ebay regularly. Common sense says to ensure they are serviceable before you dive

You don't need the latest dive gear from your LDS, keep the left over cash for some more s/h dive kit. You may wish to procure tanks new though

Not all dive gear on fleabay is crap, you just need to know what to look for! If you don't want to consider e-bay you will need to find a trusted source for s/h kit

Hope you get started soon

PS - lots of people will try to flog you a wing on here! If you are as new to diving as you say you are leave the wing til later

Hi Everyone

Ok - you're off to a good start!

PM me and I may be able to point you in the direction of a reliable source for servicing that won't be as expensive

PS - now that you're diving welcome to another world of rip-off btw
